EARLY LIFESPAN DEVELOPMENT

Child Development Services II is a continuation of Child Development Services I and is designed for students who wish to train for supervisory level positions or those wishing to further their education at the post-secondary level in the area of early childhood. Students gain in-depth work experiences in a variety of early childhood settings.

 

 

 

Course Description: 

 

Early Lifespan Development addresses the concepts related to understanding the areas and stages of human growth and development, recognizing effects of heredity and environment on human growth and development, meeting the needs of exceptional children, promoting optimum growth and development in the prenatal, infancy, toddler, preschool and school-age stages.  Careers in Early Childhood Development are explored.

Course Description: 

 

Child Development Services I provides training for entry-level positions in day care centers, nurseries, preschools, kindergartens, and private homes.  Students study child development and guidance, children’s health and well-being in group care, value of play, teaching strategies and management, curriculum development and careers in child development.  The subject content is reinforced with work experience in a variety of early childhood settings. 

 

What is the Child Care Pathway?

 

Family and Consumer Science (FACS) will assist with lifeskills used throughout your lives. Our entry level class, FACS-Essentials (Lifeskills) class will give you a snap shot vision of each of the FACS area,s that you will be able to utilize throughout your future (Foods and Nutrition, Relationships, Money Skills, Workskills, Interior Design, Parenting, Childcare, Early Childhood Education).  Your passion for children will allow you to understand the concept of human development of children from birth through twelve with our Early Lifespan Development class, This class shows necessary areas of development pertaining to physical social, emotional, intellectual and moral growth of each child through each life cycle of life. Child Care Services 1 and 2 will give you the direction on completeing your four C's certification toward your CDA qualiafications, along with the opportunities to obsesrve the actual process of childcare through onhand experiences with our school daycare, community daycares, and Roby's 3-4 year old program.   Finally, Relationships is a class that develops and gives you insight of who you really are with values, needs, wants, relationships, communication and how to deal with individuals you will meet in your lifetime. FACS - Essentials is a comprehensive course that provides an opportunity for acquiring basic life skills and guides students to explore select specific areas for concentrated study. Emphasis is on family, employability skills, adolescent development, introduction to textiles, interiors and design, financial management, challenges of parenting, establishing healthy relationships, and creating a foundation for healthy lifestyles and nutrition.
